Nothing feels more fulfilling than starting the year right by supporting Institutions to further their advocacy. This time, I am with CORE, my favorite clothing brand distributor: Primer group‘s CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) arm. This has been an annual activity for them; where they choose local institutions and donate items that can supplement to their efficiency.
This year they have “Cycle for Life” and “Tuburan Institute” as CORE‘s beneficiary. Usually this kind of gathering fills your heart as you hear inspiring stories on how they started and the life changing contribution in the community. But it was a different kind of kawang gawa afternoon for me! I never knew it was a laugh trip as Jack Yabut lead the event and at the same time gave us a short, informative and filled with comic relief refresher to Bike 111, LOL.
BIKE FOR LIFE
CORE has been supporting the use of bike as an alternative mode of transportation, as they envision that some of the modern Heroes arent exclusive to Ambulances and the likes, but to include people who uses bike as their means on changing community’s life.
THE EARLY BIRD CATCHES THE STORY
I usually arrive early and take photos of the venue, not knowing to encounter one of the founders of Tuburan Institute, Ate Kate Estember, I found her browsing through outdoor accessories, not knowing her heart carries a really empowering story.
Tuburan Institute is one of the 11 Waldorf School in the Philippines, where students are taught to appreciate nature and not to rely solely in gadgets, which enhances potential talents.
there’s more to know about how Tuburan Institute spends their week. Know them more just check the link below.
BIKING REFRESHER WITH JACK YABUT
Aside from turning over units of bike to Cycle of Life and Tuburan Institute, we also had a refresher, siempre, we cant afford donating bikes then harming beneficiaries due to lack of orientation.
My first impression about Jack Yabut turned out completely the opposite when he started speaking infront.
and hello po Sir Joey ayala~~~
hahahahha, to realize, I was actually next to sir joey seated behind since I prefer the back seat for more flexibility when it comes to taking photos.
After the turn over, Sir Jack finally started the refresher, which I my self got amazed as to not know little things that could actually cause my future accidents.
1 2 3 of Bike
1) Insert one finger after you buckle your helmet to know if it’s too tight or not.
2) Use 2 fingers (Index & Middle Finger) from eye brows going up, that’s the recommended distance for your helmet. If it goes beyond or less, then that helmet is not your size.
3) I actually forgot what’s 3 hahahahah!!! basta yan yung photo ko lol!
HEROES, BICYCLE and DISTANCE
There were a whole lot to learn to keep your self safe once you’re on a bike. I never knew, it even includes the distance your legs can reach and all.
Using a bicycle may look less relevant for others, but seriously I can list down good benefits using one, most especially if it’s a foldable one.
We cannot measure relevance by how it looks like, but relevance on how you use it and maximize one’s potential to reach greater heights.
Witnessing how CORE supports causes in the local scene also adds on to our motivation to help our community to reach not just a comfortable life, but a life that is meaningful 😀
Ikaw? How did you plan to start your year?
