As the Rainy Season steps in, doing something practical like learning how to cook isnt a bad idea. This is where the Palabok and Laksa project transpire. For those with Zero Cooking Skills, take it from me! Im a Kitchen Looser as well, but to my surprise, Both Laksa and Palabok tasted as it is! It’s so easy to prepare and shame on you if you are an alien to Instant Noodles.
Few months ago McCormick introduced their newest line of McCormick noodles. Available in 5 variants: Palabok, Pad Thai, Chap Chae, Birthday Noodles, and Laksa.

As I passed by their event “Flavor Nation festival”, in support of my friends who’s hosting the whole day affair, sad to say, I have to perform my Google Advocate Duties before the event proper, so I missed the free tasting part, you know it was so good that all I had was the recipient scent in the air even if all the booths packed up already. I just can imagine how glorious the spices linger around the venue, in terms of scent I’m sure that was Padthai, just serves the legit padthai, where it’s essence really linger and you’d definitely know that they serve PadThai coz of the lingering scent 😀
Then I got this idea, what if I’ll try my version, since it’s raining and Im stuck at home, trying to save for a Diving Gear and a New 3DS, I’ll go for the practical choice! hahah!
Since I decided to own my time, Indulging on my Caveman ego on Saturdays, I decided to try 2 of the five variants. one local and one foreign. I just love how my Saturday mornings have something new try on.
All Time Pinoy Paborito McCormick PALABOK
Ever since I moved in the Metro, I hardly encounter a home made Palabok, given the chance and the weather, my curious hands ended up clutched to this all time Pinoy favorite noodles, actually, Im kinda home sick when it rains, and Palaboks reminds me of my mom and my sister, hahaha it’s impossible to get out of Jollibee without their Palabok cravings satisfied.
Just follow the instructions at the back of the package and Viola! you got your very own Palabok! it said it’s good for 4 but I think it’s Good for 4 HUNGRY Pinoys or probably 6-8 Persons with an average appetite .
The price is reasonable and home coking is really good for Filipinos, it offers good bonding and at the same time, it lessens your expense if you chose to embark the heavy rain.
What I like with this is, for a good price, you can customize, more chicharon or add on gournd beef or whatever is your preference 😀
Selamat Datang! LAKSA from Malaysia
A good food can always transport you elsewhere, a gastronomic adventure it is, I couldnt not believe that something you can buy at your favorite grocery store can actually transport you to <insert origin of the dish>, in my case, I remember my first solo trip in Malaysia, They have this routine with Cocomilk and Bean Paste, and pooooff!!! This McCormic Laksa exactly taste as how I had it in Malaysia and Singapore and in expensive Restaurants that serves Laksa.
On my attempt to cook simultaneously, Working on the Laksa Soup and Frying the Chicken for added flavor, I ended up in panic hahahah My supposed to be fried chicken was reduces to something unrecognizable, a charcoal we call it perhaps hahah! sayang yung 60Php na Thigh huhuhuh.
Instead, I decided to use what’s inside my fridge, a few button mushroom did the trick. from Chicken to Vegan Laksa hahaha!
Find Time to Slow Down
We live a very fast pace world especially if you live in the main cities. and life is too short to chase after money and things you cant take in the after life. How about spend a morning or an evening of a complete “Relax or Chill Time” in an Italian Proverbs “Dolce Far Niente” in the Bible “Sabbath” or a Day without “Struggle”, hahaha Event the Lord our God made it a mandate to have a Sabbath.
Find a Break from all this Industrialized world, and rejuvenate in simple things such as Cooking in your own pace, not on a high speed since you are catching your ride to work, but on your own pace, as one of my friend said “If you dont know how to REST, you will REST IN PEACE”
I hope you find this entry just right, no marketing, just a complete journal of a person trying to slow down 😀 wow lakas maka Tito hahahha till my #BuhayIndependent Post 😀
